As the events industry, along with the rest of the world, learns how to move forward in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the PCMA Capital Chapter is ready to Bounce Back! No only in our event planner/supplier community, but as individuals shaping our future. Join us for the Mid-Year Spark event as we explore topics such as mindfulness, rebuilding, and virtual technology. Let’s take what we’ve learned from the pandemic and make the Events Industry even stronger than before.
PCMA Capital Chapter is pleased to announce our Keynote Speaker for the June Spark Event “Bouncing Back” is Cara Brookins – Rise and Resilience: The True Story.
Cara is the mom who literally built her own house by using YouTube tutorials. After surviving domestic violence, she was faced with the stark challenge of providing for her four children, with no one to turn to but herself. In desperate need of a home—but without the means to buy one—she did something incredible. She built one from scratch. Cara and her kids mixed the concrete, raised the walls, even ran the plumbing and gas lines.
In this motivational talk, Cara shares behind the scenes disasters and victories that show how an unlikely team can reach past doubts and fears to do the extraordinary. This story of grit and determination pushes audiences to tackle hard things. We hope her message will inspire us as rebuild our industry from the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Cara is the author of eight books, including Rise: How a House Built a Family. You may have seen her on shows like The Today Show and Inside Edition or read her stories about her in The New York Times, Good Housekeeping, and Southern Living.
